L-O-V-E, the four letter word that means so much but gets a lot of us in trouble because we don’t know the real meaning of it. We all want to experience true love. We all want to feel good from that love. So many times we sacrifice more than what we bargained for and many times we are left still feeling lonely.

Think about the things that you have sacrificed for the sake of what you thought was love. One thing life has taught me and God’s word is that if he truly loves you then he won’t ask you to do anything that is against God’s word. As we know it only takes one time of giving in to the temptation to become a mother but you will spend a lifetime loving your child. Take a look at what God’s word says below about love:

1 Corinthians 13: 4-7

4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

True love will not ask you to compromise your beliefs for a little pleasure on the side. True love will respect you at all times. True love will not want to touch you in appropriate ways. True love will honor you all the days of your life. True love will not lie or deceive you. True love will touch your heart and soul before ever touching your body.

True love will lift you up and not pull you down. True love will encourage you to keep going on when you have given your all and are ready to give up. True love will always tell you what is right even when it hurts. True love is not abusive in any shape, form or fashion. True love does not leave bruises on your physical body that you may try to hide from the world.

God wants us to enjoy love and to be able to love but we have to do it within the guidelines given to us by His word. We cannot make up our own definition of love or go with the world’s distorted views.
